Well done to the above children for showing excellent table manners this week!

Week beginning 20th July:

Many thanks to all of you that came to support our Enterprise week on the 14th. The children really enjoyed showing off everything they had made and the morning proved to be a great success raising just under £150 in total. Lots of children showed great flair for advertising, budgeting, marketing and selling and I'm sure these skills will stand them in good stead in the future.

Our annual 'Talent contest' also went down a storm. Many thanks to all those who auditioned and took part and congratulations to Leo and Will B for a beautiful rendition of Keane's 'Somewhere only we know' and Scarlett for a fabulous performance of Meghan Trainor's 'Lips are Movin'.

Please note that the children can bring board games into school on Monday (nothing electronic though please).

We also look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Tuesday at 9.15am for the Y6 leavers' assembly.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if there are issues or concerns you wish to raise. Our door is always open.

Reminders

Please note that we intend to revert to Tuesdays and Wednesdays for our PE and Games sessions in the second half of the Summer term. Kindly ensure that your child has their PE kit with them on these days, so that they are able to participate in our Games curriculum, which will include athletics, rounders and cricket.

On  a similar note, please ensure that your child has either a coat or a waterproof jacket in school for any occasions when we may be outside, either during outdoor learning or at break and lunch time. We do try and ensure that the children go outside as much as possible.

Many thanks indeed for your understanding and co-operation.

Welcome to Year 6!

We hope you had a fantastic summer and are ready for all the exciting things that will be happening this year!

On this page we will be giving you and your parents/carers a weekly update of what we have been doing and what we will be doing in the coming week. We hope that by doing this it will give your parents/carers a clear idea of what you are doing at school.

PE will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this year. Please make sure you have your full PE kit in school on these days as it will vary whether we are inside or outside.

Please remember that we have an open door policy - come and speak to us at any time.

Have you visited the Kids’ Zone yet? Play games and visit some cool websites. You can vote for your favourites!

Homework

Please note that we expect the children to be read with at least 5 times per week and this recorded in the Home School Book.

Children will be given 10 spellings per week every Thursday (plus 3 optional challenge words) to learn at home, followed by a spelling quiz on the following Thursday.

Children will also be set some Maths to complete on Mathletics, plus some mental arithmetic homework. Mathletics is set on Thursday, whilst the MA is handed out Friday and they are expected to be completed by the following Thursday and Friday respectively.

There will also be some additional English based homework, such as SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar). This is set Friday and is expected to be completed by the following Friday.
