Week Beginning 1st March
As we head into our last week of remote learning we would like to say a big thank you for all of your support. Your children have been amazing, whether they have been in school or working from home. It has been lovely to see their learning throughout this time and how resilient and motivated they have been.
We look forward to seeing all of the children on the 8th March.
As 3E and 3K didn't get their Christmas party at the end of last half term on Monday 8th they can wear their own clothes and we will have our party in the afternoon.
I have attached the overview for next week below.
Thank you for all your support this half term. It has been different but the children have engaged really well and we can see that they are all trying really hard.
It has been great to see them every morning and at meet ups. If you haven't managed to get onto these live sessions, please contact us as we would love to see you there.
Next half term our topic is Stone Age.
The Overview for week 1 is posted below.
Our reading book is Stig of the Dump by Clive King. It would be really helpful if your child had a copy to read along with the reading sessions but the extracts to help them with any tasks will be provided if you are unable to get a copy.
Also in maths we will be learning about measurements. It would be really useful of the children had a 30cm ruler or tape measure as they will be doing some practical measuring. If you are unable to get one, there will be some available at school for you to collect at a safe distance.
Have a good week off of screens and we look forward to seeing you again on the 22nd February.
Week beginning 8th February 2021
Thank you for all the great home learning! We have seen a real range of work, which is great.
It is lovely to see you at live meet ups. We have had some great discussions in our PSHE meetings and it is lovely for the children to connect with their friends. If you haven't tried one yet, we would love to see you!
Clinics- Teachers are running these sessions daily to help children if they are stuck on a particular lesson. This week they will be at 11.30 each day.
Well-being Wednesdays- On a Wednesday afternoon we will be encouraging the children to do something that will support their well-being. There will be some suggestions of activities posted on our stream on Wednesday.
I have attached the overview of the week below.
Week beginning 1.2.2021
Well done for another great week of remote learning. Thank you for all of your support.
This week on the overview you will see that we are adding some clinics that children can attend each day if they are struggling with a task that has been set. They will be at 2pm each day, apart form Wednesday when it will be at 12pm.
Please see below for an overview of Week 5.
Thank you for all of your support with Remote Learning this week. It is great to see so many children joining in with the morning meetings and the smaller group meet ups.
I think that most technical issues are now sorted. Thank you for your patience with this. I know there are still a few of you struggling to upload pictures of work they complete off screen. If anyone has any hints or tips to share please do! I know that it is different depending on the device that you are using.
Attached below is the overview of the week for next week.
Remote Learning Week 3
Thank you for your continued support. We are still ironing out technical issues and the best way to present learning to children while they are at home, but it is lovely to hear that they have been enthusiastic about lots of the tasks that they have been set.
On the stream on Google Classroom the children will see their tasks each day. They will still be accepted if they are handed in after this time. We realise that some parents are uploading work around their work schedules and this is fine.
Next week look out on the assembly classroom for an assembly on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They will appear at 2pm.
Please see below for the timetable for the week.
Remote Learning Week 2
Week beginning 11.1.21
Thank you for all the support that you have given your children this week. It has been a steep learning curve for lots of us. Thank you for all your feedback.
Hopefully as we head into week 2, you will be able to access the learning and find a variety of lessons over the week.
Below I have attached the overview for the week.
Remote Learning - Week Beginning 4.1.21 and 11.1.21
Welcome to remote Learning. School is only open to key workers. However, the work set at home is the same as what those children in school will be doing.
Below we have attached an overview of the learning for this week and next week. We would like to remind you that this work is compulsory so please contact us if your child is having issues completing it.
The work for the children will be set on Google Classroom. In order for us to respond to their work effectively we would like them to upload/submit all of their work on Google Classroom. We understand that sometimes the children will be working on paper so if you are able to take a picture and upload it as their submitted work on Google Classroom rather than emailing it to their teachers that would be great!
The children will have the opportunity to have one live PSHE lesson with their class teachers. We have assigned you all one slot for each week so please make sure you know which day you are signed up for!
Alongside the work we are putting up for the children we would like to remind you that they can also carry on doing lots of reading, using Times Tables Rockstars and completing their spelling quizzes on Purple Mash. There are also some more ideas for home learning on our website:
Thank you in advance for your perseverance and support!
During this period of home learning, your child’s work will be set via Google Classrooms. You can access their account by going to www.login.earlswood.school. This website contains user guides for setting up accounts on different devices and also has a link to your child's login details if you have lost them.
For parents using a personal chrome book (not ones provided by the school), set up is slightly different to other devices and must be done at a specific time because the system has to be disabled. Please activate your child’s account on Monday (4th January) between 12.00-12.30pm or 5.00-5.30pm. During these time periods, Google Classroom may not be accessible on other devices. If you have any problems accessing your child’s account, please email your child’s class teacher.

Some children are still bringing in their own soap. There are currently 2 different soaps in school for children to use. If your child needs to use medicated soap, please talk to the office about how they can do this safely.

If your child does not need to bring their wellies home, please tell them to leave them on their peg. Any unnamed clothes or items that are left, will be put in lost property. If you know you are missing something specific, please let us know and we will try to help.
In the case of Year 3 being locked down, all online learning will be through Google Classroom. We have set 2 test assignments for children to complete on their class page. It would really help us if you can log on and complete these with your child. They are not compulsory and won't be marked but it will help us to know which children are able to access and complete the tasks. One task requires you to create a google doc and the other to open a google doc and edit it. We will show them in class this week what it should look like when they log on at home. If you have problems with this, please let us know. Thank you.
