A Place to Learn Together

This Week's Learning

Home Learning - Week Beginning 1.3.21

Well done to all the children for their hard work over the last week. This week is our last week of remote learning as the school will reopen for all children on Monday 8th March.

A reminder that Thursday 4th March is World Book Day! Although we aren't dressing up this year, we would like the children to share their favourite book characters during morning registration. They could make a mask, draw a picture, wear an item of clothing that represents their character or bring along the book that the character features in.

Please see below for an overview of this week's learning and if you have any other questions, please just email your child's teacher directly.

Have a great week!

Home Learning - Week Beginning 22.2.21

Welcome back! We hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable half term break.

As we return to home learning, a reminder on a couple of important bits:

Live Registration Calls

These are at 9.00am every morning where the class will get a chance to say hello to each other and your child's teacher will go through the learning for the day. The link is posted just before 9.00am on your child's classroom.

Daily Feedback

To support your child's learning, teachers leave daily comments and feedback on each piece of work. Please could we ask you to encourage your child to look back at their work from the previous day as we will have given help and guidance where necessary.

Daily 'Help Clinic'

We are still running our daily 'Help Clinic' (on Google Meet) for children to ask questions about their learning for the day. These Help Clinic sessions are at 11.30am each day and if your child wishes to join, they just need to sign up on the sheet that is posted on their classroom.

Live PSHE Sessions

These are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2.30pm. Please check your child's classroom to find out which day their session is.

Wellness Wednesdays

We know how important it is for children to get a break away from a screen during remote learning, so each Wednesday afternoon we'd like to encourage the children to log off Google Classroom and do something that they enjoy and relaxes them. Suggested activities will be posted every Wednesday morning on your child's classroom.

Please see below for an overview of this week's learning and if you have any other questions, please just email your child's teacher directly.

Have a great week!

Well done to all the children for their hard work last week: it has been great to see the enthusiasm shown and the work produced. A big thank you too, to all the parents/carers for your continued support.

A reminder that, although we set a 'hand-in' time of 6pm each day for the work, the work will remain on Google Classroom. So if your child has been unable to access it on a certain day, they can still access the work and hand it in.

We also introduced a couple of new things to Google Classroom last week

Times Table Rockstars Battle

Each Wednesday, between 12pm and 4pm, the Year 6 classes will face off against each other in a Times Table Rockstar's Battle! The more you play, the more points you earn, the better chance your class has of winning. Rock on!

Year 6 Lego Classroom

Each day we will be posting a new Lego challenge for the children to complete. It is an optional challenge but of course, we would love to see pictures of any incredible creations uploaded and this could be used as a way of getting regular screen breaks in across the day.

Please see below for the learning for this week and as a reminder: children still have access to Times Tables Rockstars and their spelling quizzes on Purple Mash. There are also some more ideas for home learning on our website:

The Year 6 Team

Home Learning - Week Beginning 4.1.21

Welcome to remote Learning. School is only open to key workers. However, the work set at home is the same as what those children in school will be doing.

Below we have attached an overview of the learning for this week. We would like to remind you that this work is compulsory so please contact us if your child is having issues completing it.

As before, the work for the children will be set on Google Classroom. In order for us to respond to their work effectively we would like them to upload/submit all of their work on Google Classroom. We understand that sometimes the children will be working on paper so if you are able to take a picture and upload it as their submitted work on Google Classroom rather than emailing it to their teachers that would be great!

The children will also have the opportunity to have one live PSHE lesson with their class teachers each week. We have assigned you all one slot for the week so please make sure you know which day you are signed up for!  (This information will have been posted on your child's online classroom).

Alongside the work we are putting up for the children, we would like to remind you that they can also carry on doing lots of reading, using Times Tables Rockstars and completing their spelling quizzes on Purple Mash. There are also some more ideas for home learning on our website:

Thank you in advance for your perseverance and support!

Message about Home Learning - 4th January 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

During this period of home learning, your child’s work will be set via Google Classrooms. You can access their account by going to www.login.earlswood.school. This website contains user guides for setting up accounts on different devices and also has a link to your child's login details if you have lost them.

For parents using a personal chrome book (not ones provided by the school), set up is slightly different to other devices and must be done at a specific time because the system has to be disabled. Please activate your child’s account on Monday (4th January) between 12.00-12.30pm or 5.00-5.30pm. During these time periods, Google Classroom may not be accessible on other devices. If you have any problems accessing your child’s account, please email your child’s class teacher.

Yours faithfully,

The Federation of Earlswood Schools
