Class Assemblies

Due to technical issues, Year 5 assembly videos will not be up on Google Classrooms by 4pm today. We hope, however, that they will be up by the end of today and if not they will most definitely be there in the morning.

We hope that when you watch these they are enjoyable!

Many thanks,

Just a reminder that all Year 5 will be home learning next week (WB 14.12.20). Please do not send your child into school. The majority of home learning tasks will be provided through Google Classroom and we ask that work be submitted/uploaded onto Google Classrooms, by 6pm, to enable us to mark this and provide effective feedback. Please find an overview of tasks that details are expectations of children's home learning during this period.

Your child has now been set up with a 'Times Table Rockstars' account.

To access this programme, they will need to use their Wonde login (these should be suck in their Reading Records). If there are any issues and this does not work, please ask your child to let their class teacher know.

A parent user guide for this programme will be found on the 'Support for Parents Maths' page.

Our PE days are: Monday and Tuesday.

Please ensure your child has the full kit in school on these days.

Sculpture Week

At the end of this half term, we will be having our sculpture week. We are hoping you might be able to help with some resources!
Please can you bring in clear plastic bottles. These need to be given to your child's class teachers by Wednesday 14th October.

Earlswood Book Bing Challenge

We are very excited that our Book Bingo challenge is now up and running.

Our Book Bingo challenge is designed to encourage a love of reading and to widen the range of books your child reads.

This is what you need to know:

  1. Your child will have a Book Bingo card in their reading record book and should be aiming to read everything on their challenge card.
  2. Someone at home will need to sign each box as they read the books. (They need to read a different book for each box).
  3. They do not have to read every word themselves. You may read it together, or if a book is too challenging read it to them, or use an audio book.
  4. When they have achieved 4 in a row they will receive a raffle ticket in class.
  5. When they complete a whole challenge card they will receive a golden ticket which will be entered into a raffle. The winners will be drawn in the summer term. Previous prizes have been kindles, a trip to a musical and book tokens.
  6. In class we will celebrate children who receive golden tickets. The children can check which class has the most tickets by looking at the hall display.

If you have difficulties finding the correct books please talk to your child’s class teacher who will be happy to help.

Happy reading!

PE and Woodlands

In Year 5 our PE days are on a Monday and Tuesday, so the children will need their PE kits in school on those days.

All classes will be going to the Woodlands on Wednesday, so they will need their wellies and waterproof clothing (if needed) in school for this day.

PE kits and wellies may be left at school long term if you would prefer, however they must have them on the days stated.

Reading Books

Please have a search at home and bring back any school reading books that your child had before lockdown so that we can return these to the relevant year group. Thank you.
