We really enjoyed ‘Feel Good Week’, with lots of dancing and singing and uplifting games. The children have really enjoyed it.

Week beginning 4th October

Our theme this half term is ‘Being me’. We will continue to think about our families and how important the special people in our lives are to us.

We will be talking about growing with the children, and will creating our height class. Where we measure each of the children and add them to the chart. Then in July we measure them again to see how much they have grown.

Our song this week is ‘The Leaves are Falling Down’

(sung to the tune of Wheels on the bus)

The leaves on the trees turn orange and red

Orange and red, orange and red

The leaves on the trees turn orange and red

All day long

The leaves on the tree come tumbling down,

Tumbling down, tumbling down,

The leaves on the tree come tumbling down,

All day long

The Leaves on the trees go ‘swish, swish, swish’

Swish, swish, swish, Swish, swish, swish,

The Leaves on the trees go ‘swish, swish, swish’

All day long

We’ll rake them in a pile and jump right in!

Jump right in, jump right in!

We’ll rake them in a pile and jump right in!

All day long.

Travelling Book Fair

This week in the Nursery

Friday 1st October

This week…

This week we have been enjoying the story ‘Hug’ by Jez Ahlborough. We have been thinking about our families and enjoyed looking at our photo albums together.

We have continued to think about our Nursery rules, having kind hands, kind feet, kind words and remembering, if we don’t like something someone else is doing we say ‘Stop that please’ and find a grownup. We have also been remembering to ‘put things back where they belong’ at the end of the session. We are getting very good at this already!

Week beginning 4th October

Our theme this half term is ‘Being me’. We will continue to think about our families and how important the special people in our lives are to us.

This week is ‘Feel Good’ Week. We have lots of lovely activities planned to get us feeling good and energised.

Our song this week is ‘I’m a little Hedgehog’ song as we start to think about Autumn and the signs of the new season.

I’m a little hedgehog

(sung to the tune of I’m a little teapot)

I’m a little hedgehog, round and small,

Very prickly, not that tall,

When I’m feeling frightened away I crawl

and curl up into a ball

We often enjoying singing and signing with the ladies from ‘Singing Hands’. These can also be found on Youtube if you pop ‘Singing Hands’ in the search bar they should come up.

However, we will be updating the Nursery Photo Album page on the School Website throughout the year.

We still have items coming in which are not named, especially water bottles and shoes. Please do name the items. We are happy to pop names in items with a Sharpie if you ask us to.

Book Fair

‘Travelling Books’ are returning to the Infant School from Monday 4th October -Thursday 7th October. The Book Fair has always been a huge success at Earlswood and each purchase supports us to earn book vouchers to buy books for the school library and classrooms. The book fair will be coming to the Junior School in March next year.

There will be a large selection of books suitable for children aged 4-11 years old, at great prices, so please come and have a look on the bottom playground every day October 4th - 7th before and after school.

Friends of Earlswood Invite to a Coffee Morning

This week in the Nursery

Friday 17th September

This week…

We have made new friends, learnt new songs, and a new routine. You have all been such stars coming in for the first time without your grown-ups. Well done Goslings and Chicks.

We are looking forward to having the Ducklings join us on Monday.

Week beginning 20th September

This half term we will be focussing on the theme ‘Being Me’, where we will be exploring our new environment, sharing all about our families and making new friends.

Next week we will continue to learn all about our new routine and enjoy being with our new friends as we welcome the Ducklings to the Nursery.

The story we will be looking at this week is ‘Owl Babies’ by Martin Waddell.

We will be continuing to sing familiar nursery rhymes and number songs, such as ‘five little ducks’ and ‘1,2,3,4,5, once I got a fish alive’ as well as learning our ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’ songs.

A few messages…

Please remember to send the children in with water bottles, waterproof coat, bag with change of clothes and wellies.

Please make sure all items are clearly named when they come in to Nursery. It can get confusing when it’s time to give out the lunchboxes or the children are not sure which bottle belongs to them.

The Class Reps for the Nursery this year are Laura Chappell (Ducklings) and Katherine Walker (Chicks) They will be doing the Goslings together. We have been sending home a slip with their details on, if you didn’t receive a slip please do ask a member of staff.

Thank you for being so understanding whilst we welcome the children into Nursery, once the children are settled there will be no need for a queue and it will be a must faster process.

Please find above a poster for a Drama Group for Pre-School Children that is held in the Learning Hub next door. It has been highly recommended by a current Nursery parent.

Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask one of us, send Sarah and email or chat with us on door/gate. We will do our best to help.
