Week Beginning 27th  November 2023

Christmas Making morning is on Thursday 9.30am-11.30am.

MATHS

We will be comparing and ordering fractions and adding and subtracting fractions.

ENGLISH

We will begin to work on writing a discussion text and begin to explore the use of causal conjunctions and topics sentences.

READING

We will continue to read our text Have Sword Will Travel by Garth Nix and Sean Williams and will work on retrieval and summarising skills.

HISTORY

We will look at travel and exploration in order to understand how/why people travelled in the 1300s.

PSHE

We will explore direct and indirect bullying.

MUSIC

We are currently working on our end of year assembly songs.

FRENCH

We will  be learning Christmas related words.

RE

 What does the fall mean for human suffering and Christian hope?

PE

We will be working to work on our netball skills and will play small team games. We will also be doing some strength work.

Week Beginning 20th November 2023

Remember that it is INSET day on Wednesday. No school for pupils.

MATHS

We will continue to work on converting fractions to improper fractions and comparing and ordering fractions.

ENGLISH

This week we will plan and write our final warning tale using the tools we have practised. We will continue to focus on using apostrophes correctly. 

READING

We will continue to read our text Have Sword Will Travel by Garth Nix and Sean Williams and will discuss the impressions the author creates of characters and their feelings. We will use retrieval skills to find details from the text.

HISTORY

We will explore how the plague spread.

SCIENCE

We will recap our knowledge and show what we have learned about Materials and their Properties.

PSHE

We will be comparing our lives with those in the developing world and discuss appreciating the value of happiness, regardless of financial wealth.

MUSIC

We will continue to learn the Ukulele and practise holding it correctly. We will be reading chords reading tablature and will play in ensemble. We will begin to work on our end of year assemblies.

FRENCH

We will be naming classroom equipment.

RE

What does creation mean for Christians’ relationship with God?

Week Beginning 13th November 2023

MATHS

We will continue to work on finding equivalent fractions to a non-unit fraction and also convert fractions to improper fractions. 

ENGLISH

This week we will plan and write our own warning tale using the tools we have practised. We will continue to focus on using apostrophes correctly. 

READING

We will continue our text Have Sword Will Travel by Garth Nix and Sean Williams and practise our inference skills. We will explore the vocabulary in the text and explore synonyms for some of the new vocabulary.

HISTORY

We will learn about the different types of plague and when they occurred.

SCIENCE

We will explore materials and there response to magnets. We will use magnets to separate materials.

PSHE

It is anti-bullying week and our PSHE lesson will link to this. Monday is Odd Sock Day. Remember to wear your odd socks on Monday.

MUSIC

We will continue to learn the Ukulele and practise holding it correctly. We will be reading chords reading tablature and will play in ensemble.

FRENCH

We will recap Months of the year.

RE

We are exploring whether Christians can believe in the Creation story and The Big Bang Theory.

PE

We will be working to work on our netball skills and will play small team games.

We will be finding equivalent fractions to a non-unit fraction. .

ENGLISH

This week we will continue to work on our warning tale and will be showing the feelings of the character through the atmosphere we create.

READING

We will continue our text Have Sword Will Travel by Garth Nix and Sean Williams and use inference skills to answer questions. We will also look at the impressions the author creates through the language he chooses.

HISTORY

We will introduce our new topic with a Plague day. We have an exciting workshop on Friday and a day of tasks such as art, science, drama and dance.

We are investigating thermal insulators.

PSHE

We are focusing upon racism.

Welcome back. I hope you have had a restful half term break.

MATHS

We will be working on multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000, using multiples of 10, 100, 1000 and finding fractions equivalent to a unit fraction.

There is no homework during half term week.

We will be recapping squared numbers in our arithmetic lesson.

ENGLISH

This week we will begin to work our writing of a warning tale and practise some of the skills we will be using in our final piece.
