A Place to Learn Together
We offer Nursery Provision to Year 6
Week beginning 22nd July 2024
Out theme this half term is ‘Here comes the sun!’. We will be focusing on transitioning from Nursery to Reception, with visits to the ‘big’ school, stories in the library and lots of ‘starting school’ texts will be added to our provision.
As a Nursery we follow Little Wandle, working on their Foundations to Phonics.
We will continue you with the story ‘Hooray for Fish’ by Lucy Cousins. If you would like to share this story together please click on the link below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-8ASDajw7s
Our Rhyme of the moment is ‘Wind the Bobbin up ’ A copy of the rhyme can be found in the 'Teacher Notice Board' section, next to the Blog. A video of all the Foundations to Phonics songs can be found at https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/
More information about Little Wandle can be found on the parent page of the Little Wandle website. Any questions please do ask.
Our Maths focus over the next few weeks will be Application of numerals 1-5, Weight and Capacity.
A few messages…
Thank you for helping us to raise money for Chloe and Sophie’s Deaf Ears fund through buying our ice lollies this week. We had such fun making them in Nursery, we hope you enjoyed them.
Dates for the Diary:
We wanted to say a big thank you for all your kind end of year gifts. You have really spoilt us and we are so touched by your generosity. The sweets have already been opened! We have had a lovely year with all of your little ones, who are now not so little. We have watched them grow and know they will thrive as they move on into Reception. Thank you for a year full of lovely memories.
Please remember to send your child in with a coat everyday, no matter the weather. We are a free flow Nursery and love to be outside and although it is coming up to summer our weather can’t be trusted.
Please can everyone come in with sun hats and water in their bottles rather than squash/juice. As you can imagine the bottles do get spilt and we have had a few incidents of sticky squash all over the floor. We don’t want ants coming to visit.
We now ask that all email enquiries are made through the school office, please do not contact teachers directly through their email addresses.
Please use the email infoinfants@earlswood.surrey.sch.uk or call the office.
Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask one of us on the gate.
Sarah, Charmaine, Nicola and Jodi.

Please can we ask that all shoes are named- we have lots of shoes that are identical in look and it caused a few problems, especially now we are wearing our wellies more often.
We ask that when you say goodbye you don't stand at the window and watch as this can cause other children to become upset as it has created a bit of an audience for them. Please be mindful and wave at the door and leave promptly.
A gentle reminder that the gate will be closing at 8:50am each morning. If your child is late, it means they miss out on the carpet session first thing and can make it hard for the staff to support the children with their learning if they are having to leave the building to open the gate.
Our Children all had a fabulous time at their Christmas Party on Wednesday, we enjoyed singing, dancing and playing games together. There is a Photo Album available on the Photo Album page of the website if you would like to see the fun we had.
We gave out your Wonde logins at parents evening, if you were unable to attend please speak with us on the door and we can pass over your child’ login.

This week in the Nursery
Friday 15th September
This week…
This week we have had a lovely time getting to know you all, as you have had your settling sessions with us. The Children have all done so well. We have been so impressed with how well they have settled already. It has been lovely seeing them making friends and being so engaged in the activities.
Next week we will be continuing with our settling sessions and enjoying making new friends. We will be reading lots of books together including 'All Are Welcome' by Alexandra Penfold. If you would like to share this book at home here is a reading of the book online. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vc8IEcr1Uwc
We are working on being kind friends and exploring our new environment. We have Kind Hands, Kind Feet, and Kind words in Nursery and if someone is doing something we don't like we put up our hand and say 'Stop, that please'. These are all important words we use in our setting. It can be useful to use these words are home with the children.
A few Reminders
Please can all items that come into Nursery be clearly named, the children find it hard to find their items themselves, so it is helpful if we can see their names. We ask that Lunchboxes are clearly named on the outside as the staff give out their lunchboxes and it takes time to open up each lunch bag to see the names inside.
We also ask that hoop earrings are replaced with studs as this prevents and earrings being pulled and hurting the child.
Please can we ask that water bottles are filled with water only.
If you have any questions or queries, please don’t hesitate to talk to us on the door/gate, or alternatively get in touch via the school office email address.
Sarah, Charmaine, Nicola and Hayley.
