You will need to reduce the amounts to make it at home.

Method

Step 1 –

Place the rice in a pan of water. Bring to the boil and par-boil for 5 minutes until the rice is almost cooked. Then drain in a sieve, rinse and set aside.

 

 

 

Step 2

Roughly chop the pepper and red onion.

Place in a bowl with the tomatoes and garlic.

Blend until smooth with the help of an adult.

 

Step 3

Finely slice the onion.

Heat the oil in a pan.

Add the onion and bay leaves.

Cook on a medium heat for 8 minutes until the onion is soft.

 

Step 4

Add the spices (cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, ground cumin) to the mix in the pan.

Add the sea salt. Cook for a few more minutes.

Add the tomato puree and cook for 1-2 mins.

 

Step 5

Add the tomato and pepper mix (made by Group 2) to the pan.

Add the semi-cooked rice (from Group 1)

Mix thoroughly so that the rice is fully coated.

Add a dash of water, turn down the heat, stir and cover with a lid for 5-10 minutes until cooked through.

 

Step 6 -

Peel the plantains and slice in 1cm slices.

Heat the oil in a pan until hot.

Fry for a few minutes, turning occasionally, until soft and cooked. Serve with the rice.

Book review competition - please complete a book review poster to win a book. Posters will be displayed in the library.

Dress up as a book character.

We will also shared books with another year group, join a live lesson and have stories read to us by different members of staff.

We need some red and green wool for our Christmas Making Day activity. If anyone has some they are willing to donate we would be really grateful.

We are collecting clear plastic 2l bottles for Sculpture week.
