We offer Nursery Provision to Year 6
The children have settled wonderfully into the Summer term. They children are enjoying the warmer weather and of course the increased opportunities to explore water.
Thank you for all your pictures and updates regarding your sunflowers. Please continue to send us updates and we will share these with the class. The children have loved sharing these with us.
Homework for this week: Please send us a picture of a family/friend's pet via Tapestry. This will help support your child's learning of our new animal topic.
Please collect: Please collect small boxes, this is so the children can make a home for their 'pet'.
Week beginning 28th April 2025
This week children will be learning about how to look after a pet. We will be reading the story 'Pet Potato' and children will be given an opportunity to make their own pet potato and a home for it using a small cardboard box.

This Spring term has gone by so quickly and the children have loved learning about growing and the different life cycles of plants and animals; hopefully they are beginning to share this knowledge with you.
Homework over Easter:
Sunflowers: Your child will be coming home with a sunflower this afternoon. Please encourage your child to take good care of it by watering it and keeping it in a sunny position. When the sunflowers start to grow please feel free to plant them in your garden, if you don't have a garden you are welcome to return the plants to Nursery and we will plant them with your child in the nursery garden. Please take lots of photos and place on Tapestry so we can share these with your children and the rest of the class.

Our Caterpillars have arrived and they are growing bigger very quickly! We have enjoyed sharing the story ‘The very hungry caterpillar’ and learning about the butterfly life cycle- we are even singing a new song about a tiny caterpillar - wiggle wiggle!
As the weather has been so lovely this week, the children have spent a lot of time outside and have continued to enjoy planting more seeds and watering our little seedlings to help them grow. Our green house is getting full!
The children continue to observe our tadpoles, who are also growing!
Week beginning 24th March 2025
This week we will continue looking at the butterfly life cycle and will be sharing the story ‘Little Red Riding Hood’.
We will be discussing the signs of Spring and introducing our Spring treasure baskets.
Please note: There is an own clothes day on Wednesday 26th March- in return for a donation of a small chocolate egg. Please see the emails regarding this.
The Friends of Earlswood will be holding the Big Egg Hunt on Saturday - Please see email and posters on the school gates for ticket information.

We enjoyed welcoming our visitors for STEM week, thanks to Ribha and baby Yousef for coming and talking about looking after a baby, how the Nursery children have grown and changed since they were babies. We all had fun playing ‘guess the baby’ using the baby photos sent in!
Everybody is enjoying observing our tadpoles, they have started to grow tiny back legs and are now munching on some cucumber. We continue to work on our Nursery garden, planting more seeds, watering and looking for the seedlings popping out from the soil.
Week beginning 17th March 2025
This week our theme will be butterflies! While we await our delivery of live caterpillars, we will be looking at the life cycle of a butterfly and comparing this to the life cycle of a frog.
We look forward to seeing parents at your parent’s evening appointments on Tuesday 18th and Thursday 20th.
Please note: There is an Inset Day on Wednesday 19th March- Nursery will be closed.
Friday 21st is Red Nose Day, so children are welcome to wear something red to Nursery in exchange for a donation – please pay via Scopay.

The sun has continued to shine this week and the children have been enjoying watering and observing their seeds. We have also had a new addition to the nursery this week; 'Frogs spawn' the children are closely watching them as they transform into tadpoles and then frogs. This week also saw the children dress up for World Book Day, in the nursery we focused on the book 'Oliver's Fruit Salad' and the children enjoyed exploring different fruits and making their own fruit kebabs for snack time.

This week is STEM week. The children will be continuing to learn about growing including how they have grown over time. We will be welcoming a visitor to the Nursery on Wednesday! Please continue to post on Tapestry or bring into us pictures of your child as a baby for us to use in these discussions. Next week we will be continuing to monitor our frogs spawn and explore the lifecycle of a frog.

What a lovely 'spring like' week we have had! The sun is starting to shine and the children have loved planting different flowers and vegetables. Please see lots of pictures on Tapestry. We have learnt that plants need; water, sunlight/warmth and space to grow. We have also learnt that we must be patient as plants take time to grow!

This week the children will be continuing to learn about growing and hopefully spotting more signs of the arrival of Spring! We will be reading the stories; 'Oliver's Fruit Salad' and 'Oliver's Vegetables' and thinking about how these foods are grown. We will also be making fruit kebabs.

What a lovely and busy half term the children have had. We have learnt about winter and polar animals. We have learnt loads about bears and shared some amazing bear stories. We have learnt and celebrated Chinese New Year and Valentine Day. We have baked and tried some many different new foods, such as noodles. We have even been to the Junior School and the Woodlands to re-enact the story of 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'.

This half term our theme is 'Growing Things'. The children will be learning about growing including plants and animals. We will be learning about different fruits and vegetables and where these come from. We will be looking at life cycles of frogs and butterflies. We will be learning about spring and the celebration of Easter.
This week we will be spotting some of the signs of Spring. We will be reading stories about growing and we will be planting seeds and beans to observe over time.

What a fab week we have had. The children adored our 'bear hunt' trip and especially enjoyed meeting out friendly bear! Thank you to all the parents and grandparents for volunteering your time for this trip, without you, we simply couldn't organise these experiences for the children.

What a lovely week we have had exploring colours and the Chinese New Year. This week the children's have loved making dragons and lions and recreating the Chinese New Year Dragon Dance.

On Wednesday 5th February we will be going to the woodlands at the Junior School in order to re-enact the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. Then, we will be enjoying bear themed stories with Year 6 and enjoying our Teddy Bear biscuits.

We will be talking to children about what makes us feel happy and strategies to help us feel calm. We will be trying out Yoga and exploring relaxing scents such a lemon and lavender within different sensory activities.

This week the children have enjoyed repeating patterns, they have especially enjoyed using instruments and their bodies to make repeated sounds. They have also loved our winter based activities and have enjoyed making winter pictures. We have continued with the theme of kindness and children have been learning how to share in the nursery whilst doing different activities such as cooking. The children have made yummy cheese scones.

This week children will be learning the nursery rhyme; Incy Wincy Spider and we will be exploring the 'i' sound in phonics. We will be reading a repetitive story 'The Gingerbread Man' and learning actions for key parts of the story. Children will have a chance to make Gingerbread Men from Playdough and Gingerbread Men crafts.

What a chilly week it has been! This week the children have continued to explore 2D shapes and have especially enjoyed making stars. The children are enjoying the story ‘Kindness Makes Us Stronger’ and we have been practicing sharing toys with others. What a great week we have had. The children have had a busy week, with trips to the library and learning about adults in nursery who are there to help and talk to when they are feeling sad. They also have enjoyed learning about shapes; especially circles!

This week children will be exploring two traditional nursery rhymes; Twinkle Twinkle and 5 Little Ducks. We will also be reading and exploring the story 'Kindness Makes us Strong' and discussing things we can do to be kind to others. We will be making cheese scones and learning how to cook with others. We will be making collaborative pieces of art sharing paper and mark making tools with others.

What a busy and fun week we have had! The children have been enjoying making sculptures from natural materials in the Nursery garden (please see Tapestry for some pictures). They have loved singing 'Zoom Zoom Zoom' and exploring the sights and sounds of fireworks. We have discussed colours, patterns and 2D shapes. We hope to see lots of you at Earlswood Junior School for the fireworks tonight.
Week beginning 11th November 2024
This week we will mark Remembrance with the children and encourage them to make their own poppy pictures and drawings. The children will also be taking part in Anti-Bullying Week; we will be exploring some social stories and talking about grown ups who can help us if we are feeling sad. We will be taking part in Odd Socks Day on Wednesday; please come to school in odd socks on this day. On Wednesday (Ducklings) or Friday (Goslings and Chicks) we will be encouraging the children to come to Nursery in spots in order to support Children in Need. We will be continuing to explore the text 'Lulu Goes to the Library' and visiting the school library at the Infant School.

What a busy half term we have had, the children have settled fabulously into nursery life. We have loved getting to know you and your child/children and hope you have a restful and enjoyable half term break.
This week the children have loved painting their Diva's, they have also enjoyed exploring the story 'Pumpkin Soup' and finding out what is inside a pumpkin.

This week the children will take part in Sculpture Week. We will be exploring the Artist Andy Goldsworthy and creating natural art in the nursery garden. We will also be marking the 5th November by making our own firework patterns with paint and black paper. Finally, will be exploring a new text called 'Lulu Goes to the Library' and encouraging the children to snuggle up with a good book!

This week the children have really enjoyed making Divas for Diwali and painting pumpkins.
Next week we will be continuing to explore pumpkins and Diwali. We will be completing our Diyas and carving pumpkins.

Week beginning 14th October 2024
This week the children have really enjoyed a range of autumnal activities from making hedgehogs in the playdough to printing pumpkins with apples. We have also enjoyed some more baking. We have been making Winter Fruit Turnovers, I hope your children enjoyed making and eating them!
Next week we will be continuing to explore the season of Autumn. We will be making autumn pictures using a range of printing techniques, we will be exploring and washing pumpkins in the water tray, we will be preparing for Diwali by making 'Divas' little candle holders from salt dough.

This week the children have continued to settle into the routines and expectations at Nursery. They have especially enjoyed our tie dye activity using conkers, blackberry and turmeric . You can see their creatives hanging in our conservatory!
Next week will be continuing to settle into the routines and expectations of nursery. We will be continuing to explore the season of Autumn, we will be making hedgehogs, rolling conkers down gutters and making yummy Apple flapjacks!

Week beginning 30th September 2024
This week the children have continued to settle into the routines and expectations at Nursery. They have enjoyed exploring the colours and beauty of Autumn and we have enjoyed reading the story Owl Babies. They have also enjoyed making yummy bread rolls!
Next week will be continuing to learn the nursery routines and expectations. In addition, we will be continuing to explore the season of Autumn, our families and making new friends. This will be our continued themes for this half term.

This week the children have continued to settle into the routines and expectations at Nursery. They are starting to explore the nursery further, pictures of the children exploring this week can be found in the conservatory, please take a look.
Next week all children will be coming to Nursery for their 'normal' hours.
Ducklings: Monday and Tuesday 8.40-3.00pm and Wednesday 8.40-11.15am
Chicks: Wednesday 12.30-3.00pm and Thursday Friday 8.40-3.00pm
Goslings: Monday-Friday 8.40am-3.00pm

What a lovely week it’s been, the children have settled fabulously into Nursery and we are so proud of them! This week, we will be continuing to settle the children into nursery and their new routines.

Welcome to Nursery!
Welcome to all our new children and families starting Nursery at Earlswood! This week the nursery staff have really enjoyed meeting all our new children and yourselves on their home visits and we hope that you have found these useful too.
We are looking forward to welcoming the children for their settling in sessions next week. Just a reminder W/B Monday 9th September:
Ducklings: Mon and Tues 1-3pm (Lunch at home)
Goslings: Mon-Thurs 8.40am-11.45am, Fri 8.40am-3.00pm (Lunch at Nursery)
Chick: Wed and Thurs 1-3 (Lunch at home)
Children are to be wearing their school uniform.

Every day the children need to bring a named:
- Water bottle
- Sun hat (If sunny)
- Water proof coat
- Spare clothes (these can be kept in their bag on their peg)
Sun cream needs to be applied before the children come to school and not brought into school.
