Week Beginning 20.10.25

 

Maths: This week we will be looking at equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions.

 

Writing: This week the children will be planning and writing their own non-chronological reports, including organising the text, hooking in the reader and showing multiple points of view.

 

Reading: This week we will be finishing our book 'Darwin's Dragons' and looking at a range of skills including summarising and retrieval.

 

Topic: This week we will be looking at the artist Marianne North and using her ideas to create some of our own pieces of art.

 

PSHE:  This week we will be thinking about how our school benefits from having a learning charter and SMILE expectations.

Week Beginning 13.10.25

 

Maths: This week we will be looking at prime, square and cubed numbers and the order of operations - BIDMAS.

 

Writing: This week the children will be looking at features of non-chronological reports, including organising the text, hooking in the reader and showing multiple points of view.

 

Reading: This week we will be continuing our book 'Darwin's Dragons' and looking at a range of skills including vocabulary and retrieval.

 

Topic: This week we will be writing a newspaper report about Charles Darwin's discoveries.

 

PSHE:  This week we will be thinking about how our school benefits from having a learning charter and SMILE expectations.

Week Beginning 6.10.25

 

Maths: This week we will be looking at the methods of long division, common factors and common multiples.

 

Writing: This week the children will be learning our new text 'Whales' and looking at features of non-chronological reports.

 

Reading: This week we will be continuing our book 'Darwin's Dragons' and looking at a range of skills including inference and retrieval.

 

Topic: This week we will be looking at microorganisms and setting up an investigation.

Maths: This week we will be looking at the methods of long multiplication and short division.

 

Writing: This week the children will be planning and writing their own finding tales using a description toolkit.

 

Reading: This week we will be continuing our book 'Darwin's Dragons' and looking at a range of skills including vocabulary and retrieval.

 

Topic: This week we will be looking at the theory of evolution and microorganisms.

 

PSHE:  This week we will be thinking about caring for the needs of others and being able to empathise with them.

Week Beginning 22.9.25

 

Maths: This week we will be looking at using the inverse and solving multi-step problems.

 

Writing: This week the children will be planning and writing their own finding tales using a description toolkit.

 

Reading: This week we will be continuing our book 'Darwin's Dragons' and looking at a range of skills including inference and retrieval.

 

Topic: This week we will be looking at plant adaptation and the theory of evolution.

 

PSHE:  This week we will be thinking about understanding our own wants and needs and comparing them with children in different communities.

Week Beginning 15.9.25

 

Maths: This week we will be looking at negative numbers, column addition and column subtraction. 

 

Writing: This week the children will be looking at features of a description toolkit including onomatopoeia and using character reactions.

 

Reading: This week we will be continuing our book 'Darwin's Dragons' and looking at a range of skills including ordering and inference.

 

Topic: This week we will be looking at Mendel's work on inheritance and how animals are adapted to their habitats.

 

PSHE:  This week we will be thinking about understanding our own wants and needs and comparing them with children in different communities.

Week Beginning 8.9.25

 

Maths: This week we will be looking at comparing and ordering numbers to ten million and rounding numbers.

 

Writing: This week the children will be learning our new text 'Galapagos' and starting to learn about a description toolkit.

 

Reading: This week we will be starting our book 'Darwin's Dragons' and looking at a range of skills including prediction and inference.

 

Topic: This week we will be looking at Charles Darwin's discoveries and Carl Linnaeus' work on classification.

 

PSHE:  This week we will be reminding ourselves about the zones of regulation and looking at different sizes of problems and reactions.

Week Beginning 4.9.25

 

We are very excited to welcome the children back for the new school year on Thursday 4th September!

 

For the first two days back we will be focussing on getting the children settled into their new classrooms, with their new peers and new teachers. We will be going through reminders, taking part in some fun ice breaker activities and introducing our topic 'Darwin's Delights'.
