Week beginning 20th October 2025

Maths

This week we are multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, 1000.

Writing

Our focus this week is poetry and we will be exploring a poem and using the structure and ideas to support us in creating our own poem.

Reading

This week we will finish the boy who swam with piranhas. We will complete a book review in order to share our likes, dislikes and opinions about the text.

PSHE

We are learning to understand how democracy and having a voice benefits the school community and know how to participate in this and working to find out why our school community benefits from a Learning Charter and can help others to follow it

History

Friday is our Anglo Saxon day. Please come dressed as an Anglo Saxon.

Science

We are going to explore irreversible changes.

DT

We are going to complete our kites. We will test them and evaluate our work.

Music

We will continue to learn the ukelele.

Week beginning 13th October 2025

Maths

This week we are working with factors, common factors, prime numbers, square numbers and cube numbers.

Writing

We will plan and write our own explanation text. At the end of the week, we will publish our final piece.

Reading

We are continuing to read The Boy Who Swam With Piranhas and will be continuing to explore  the book by discussing the ideas and themes of the book. We will use inference skills to answer questions and will show our understanding by answering true or false questions.

PSHE

We will explore how the behaviour of one person can affect the whole group and look towards how we can work together as a team.

History

We are going to recap our understanding of Anglo Saxons up to 793AD.

Science

We are going to explore reversible changes.

RE

We will review our learning and think about our overarching question 'What helps Muslims live a good life?'

Computing

We will  continue to explore how we can have respectful relationships online.

DT

We are going to continue to make our kites. 

Music

We will continue to learn the ukelele.

Week beginning 6th October 2025

Maths

This week we are working with common multiples and factors.

Writing

We will be begin an explanation unit of work and will use causal conjunctions, relative clauses and this will link to our work about Anglo Saxons and Vikings.

Reading

We are continuing to read The Boy Who Swam With Piranhas and will continuing to explore  the book by exploring the vocabulary and prediction what might happen next.

PSHE

This week is Feel good week and we will be making connections with our Year 3 buddies.

History

We are going to find out about Anglo Saxon settlements and how Britain was divided up into Kingdoms.

Science

We are going to explore separating solutions.

RE

We are learning about Hadj.

Computing

We will explore how we can have respectful relationships online.

DT

We are going to begin our unit on making kites. This week we will research kite designs and create a design of our own.

Music

We will continue to learn the ukelele.

Week beginning 29th September 2025

Maths

This week we are adding numbers with more than one digit, working on inverse operations, multi-step operations using addition and subtraction and comparing calculations.

Writing

We will be completing our independent writing of our warning tales and will edit and publish our work.

Reading

We are continuing to read our new book, The Boy Who Swam With Piranhas and will continuing to explore the themes of the books by debating the choices the characters make, will be working on our reading fluency and will explore the feelings of the characters.

PSHE

Our unit is Being in my world and this week we are thinking about our responsibilities and the choices we make about our own behaviour.

History

We are going to find out about Anglo Saxon settlements and how Britain was divided up into Kingdoms.

Science

We are going to carry out our investigations about dissolving materials.

RE

We are exploring what helps a Muslim live a good life and this week will explore Sawm and Zukkah.

Computing

We will remind ourselves of the internet safety rules and look at false photography.

Art

We are going to make a design for a Anglo Saxon amulet.

Music

We will continue to learn the ukelele.

Week beginning 22nd September 2025

Maths

This week we are rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000, 100000. 

Writing

We will be completing our innovated version of the text and will plan and write our hot task (independent write).

Reading

We are continuing to read our new book, The Boy Who Swam With Piranhas and will continuing to explore new vocabulary, retrieve information to answer questions and develop a deeper understanding by discussing the story.

PSHE

Our unit is Being in my world and this week we are thinking about our responsibilities as citizens of our country.

History

We are going to complete our Sutton Hoo fact file.

Science

We are going to plan an investigation about dissolving materials.

RE

We are exploring what helps a Muslim live a good life and this week will explore Sawm and Zukkah.

Computing

We will remind ourselves of the internet safety rules and thinking about passwords.

Art

We are going to look at and draw animals based on Anglo Saxon and Viking art.

French

We are going to name items in the classroom.

Maths

This week we are finding one more or less than 10, 100, 1000, 10000, 100000, we will partition, count and order numbers to 100000, 

Writing

Our focus this week is to plan and begin to write an innovated version of our model text. We will plan to use the toolkit skills we have be learning.

Reading

We are continuing to read our new book, The Boy Who Swam With Piranhas and will be exploring some new vocabulary in the text, summarise the main points and also use inference skills to answer questions.

PSHE

Our unit is Being in my world and this week we are thinking about what it means to be a citizen of my country.

History

We are going to explore the finds at Sutton Hoo and use evidence to find out information about the person buried at the site.

Science

We are going to explore the uses of different materials.

RE

We are exploring what helps a Muslim live a good life and this week will talk about the importance of prayer and the word of Muhammad.

Computing

We will remind ourselves of the internet safety rules and will be finding out about spam.

Art

We are going to look at knot patterns which could be found in the Anglo Saxon and Viking period.

French

We are going to look at the months of the year in French.

Music

We will begin to learn the ukelele.

Week beginning 8th September 2025

We have had a wonderful start to the new school year in year  and are now looking forward to our first week of learning.

Maths

This week we are working with numbers to 10000, 100000, 1,000,000, and powers of 10. We will be able to read and write these numbers.

Writing

Our focus this week is to learn a new model text for our fiction unit, write rule of three sentences which will describe actions in a setting, use personification, figurative language  develop our sentences to create atmosphere in our fiction writing.

Reading

We are continuing to read our new book, The Boy Who Swam With Piranhas and will be working on our intonation and expression when reading aloud. We will demonstrate our understanding of the text by retrieving answers from the chapter we read. We are also looking at an extract from a different text.

PSHE

Our unit is Being in my world and this week we are looking forward to the year ahead.

History

We are going to start our Anglo Saxons topic by recapping what happened before the Anglo Saxons arrived and find out why they came.

Science

We are going to be grouping different materials according to their different properties.

RE

We are exploring what helps a Muslim live a good life and this week will talk about the importance of Allah and the five pillars of Islam.

Computing

We will remind ourselves of the internet safety rules, starting by thinking about people online.

Art

We are going to look at knot patterns which could be found in the Anglo Saxon and Viking period.

French

We are going to recap colours in French.
