We need donations of soap for Sculpture Week - 03/11/2025. If you are able to donate a bar of soap we would be extremely grateful.
Writing:
This week the children will be creating their own warning tales. They will be using a setting toolkit and using the skills we have learnt in this cycle to bring the setting to life.
Maths:
We will be consolidating our learning from this half term. We will be recapping column addition and focusing on carrying the tens and hundreds.
Reading:
This week we will finish reading our core text 'The Akimbo Adventures'. The children will be creating a book review and discussing their favourite parts of the text.
Topic:
We will be focusing on Science this week and planning and creating a report about the human body. We will bring together all our learning about nutrition, bones and muscles to create our reports.

Writing: This week the children will be creating their own warning tales by innovating a model text. They will be using a settings toolkit and will be applying the skills we have learnt in this cycle to their writing.
Maths: This week our focus will be addition and subtraction. We will adding and subtracting two numbers across a 10 and adding and subtracting two numbers across a hundred.
Reading: Our book this half term is 'The Akimbo Adventures'. We will be using our reading skills to answer comprehension this week by making predictions and inferring information within the text.
Topic: This week we will have a DT focus. We will be completing our wallets using the sewing techniques we learnt last week and we will finish by evaluating our work.

Feeling Good Week 6th-10 October
As part of our ongoing work to promote positive mental health, we are taking part in Feeling Good Week. Goslings, Ducklings and children in Year R-6 are invited to wear their own clothes on Monday 6th October to celebrate the start of this ‘feel good’ week. Goslings and Chicks are invited to wear their own clothes on Friday 10th October to celebrate World Mental Health Day.

Please note that due to class photos we have amended our timetable and children are to wear full school uniform and not their PE kit.
Writing: This week the children will be learning the toolkit for our new model text focusing on setting description. We will look at using personification and describing the weather to set the scene.
Maths: This week our focus will be addition. We will be looking at adding 1s, 10s and 100s. We will be using the column method to cross 10s and 100s.
Reading: Our book this half term is 'The Akimbo Adventures'. We will be using our reading skills to answer comprehension this week by retrieving answers and summarising key points. We will also be understanding new vocabulary from the text.
Topic: This week we will have a DT focus. In DT we will be beginning to make our wallet and practise different sewing techniques.

Writing: This week the children will be applying the skills they have learnt so far this year whilst writing a non-chronological report about an animal of their choice. We will begin to learn our new model text 'Darkwater Canal' and begin to learn the toolkit for writing a warning tale focusing on setting description.
Maths: We will be looking at counting up in 50s. We will then move on to addition and subtraction. We will be adding 1s and 10s.
Reading: Our book this half term is 'The Akimbo Adventures'. We will be using our reading skills to answer comprehension this week by retrieving answers and summarising key points. We will also be understanding new vocabulary from the text.
Topic: This week we will have an art and DT focus. In art we will be looking at the patterns on Andrinka Cloth and will be designing our own patterns. In DT we will be planning and designing a wallet which we will sew.

Maths: We will be working on place value up to 1000. We will be adding 1, 10 and 100 more, using numberlines and ordering numbers to 1000.
Reading: Our book this half term is 'The Akimbo Adventures'. We will be using our reading skills to answer comprehension this week by retrieving answers and summarising key points. We will also be understanding new vocabulary from the text.
Topic: This week we will have an art focus. We will be learning about the artist Esther Mahlangu and will be creating our own artwork inspired by her.
