We will look at the work of the architect Julia Barfield. We will think about how she designs buildings and look at some of her iconic designs.
Geography
We will understand the nature of the river in 3 stages.
PSHE
We are thinking about our dreams and goals. We will think about how to overcome disappointment.
RE
We are learning about Sikhism. We will consider why serving the community is important to many Sikhs.

When you log onto TimesTable Rock Stars your child should practise these facts and then attempt a ‘sound check’. The Sound Check imitates the official multiplication check that they will have in the Summer Term.

Ancient Egyptian Day
Ancient Egyptian dress up day will be on Friday 26th September.
Week Beginning 8th September 2025
Welcome to Year 4. All the children have settled in really well and we are looking forward to starting our topic learning about Ancient Egypt.
Writing
We are learning a journey tale. We will look carefully at how dialogue is used in stories. We will learn to write speech that is correctly punctuated.
Reading
We are starting our new class text ‘The Ancient Egyptian Sleepover’. We will predict what will happen in the story, look at key vocabulary and retrieve information.
Maths
We will place numbers on a numberline. We will represent and partition numbers to 10,000, including flexible partitioning.
Timestables
We are currently revising the facts the children learnt in Year 3. They should have accurate recall of 2xtable, 5xtable and square numbers (eg 4x4, 8x8)
PSHE
We will think about how it feels to be included or excluded in a group. We will discuss how to make people feel welcome.
Computing
We will be learning about online safety. We will learn how to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly; recognise acceptable/unacceptable behaviour; identify a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact.
History
We will be discussing what we already know about Ancient Egypt.
RE
We are looking at Christianity. We will think about what a covenant is. We will find out what promise God made to Noah.

Reading
Please encourage your child to read daily for at least 10 minutes. If this is recorded in your reading records, it will count towards our class reading total. Prizes for the class that has the most reads each half term.
